Sam Jane Hunt (b.1992, UK) is a figurative painter living in Le Perche, France. She graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2013, and moved to Paris the following year.

Since 2015, she has worked consistently as a professional artist and illustrator. She has participated in group shows internationally, and has presented solo exhibitions in Paris, London and regional France. She is largely self-taught, and has spent the last ten years honing her skills in painting, drawing and printmaking.

Her recent practice focuses on the retelling and reinterpretation of memory. Memories are fluctuating things: they fade and blur with time, and we often try to strengthen them through revisits, retellings and elaborations. Beginning with a found reference photograph, Hunt uses colour and pattern to allow her own personal experience to reimagine the scene. Sugary tones and soft, blended surfaces romanticise these past and forgotten moments and layer them with retrospective emotions.
